‘’It is more important now than ever to support the appeal for the new Royal Marines Museum. Help make history for the Corps, at the same time as inspiring future generations of Royal Marines. I have donated myself and look forward to a brand new, state of the art museum. Dig deep, donate and help to make history!’’ - WO1 (CRSM) Dave Mason RM

What is ‘Make History’?

The Make History appeal is for regular supporters of the Royal Marines Museum. Supporters donating £10 per month or more (or £120 one off payment) will be featured on a donor wall in the new museum. For the first time, the story of the Royal Marines – a national story, but also a story with impact across the globe – will be told in a building appropriate to its scale. The National Museum’s vision for the museum has developed following extensive audience research, consultation and activity planning and will transform access to this story, developing exciting new programmes and activities, and increasing visitors four-fold. The new Royal Marines Museum, at the very heart of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, will place the 355-year history of the Royal Marines firmly within the story of the Royal Navy. The new museum will tell the Royal Marines story of daring, duty and sacrifice and inspire future generations to come.

How can I support the Appeal?

When you set up a monthly donation to The National Museum of the Royal Navy you are becoming part of the wider vision and allowing us to tell the story of the Royal Marines. We want to create an active, engaging environment to explore the story of The Royal Marines in a meaningful way and use our collection to re-tell this history; re-interpreting familiar artefacts, and featuring new or unseen artefacts and untold personal stories. By donating to this appeal you can literally help make history for the Royal Marines.

Your support no matter how large or small does make a difference and allows us to continue telling the incredible story of the Royal Marines.

Donors to the Make History appeal will be recognised on a special donor board when the new museum opens. The appeal is an excellent way for serving, retired or descendants of Royal Marines to remember their contribution to the Corps. For more information please contact
